Richard, first, I am not paranoid. It appears that you are making some ill-advised assumptions.". . .who cares of some brokers read what people are posting here? If you don't want your precious ideas in a public forum, then don't post them on the Internet. The above statement has no relevance whatsoever to my concerns. Because we don't know what information is being exchanged with Datek about our SI membership and activities on the site, we are not in a position to adequately address the issue except with concern. What people are posting is already public information (duh!). What is not "public information" (and IMO, what should not be available to anyone without my express permission) is a private individual's name, e-mail address, physical address, etc., etc." . . . why in the world do you imagine that people from these investment houses have not been subscribed for years? What link do you imagine between an ad and their reading the postings here?" You have obviously jumped to another flawed conclusion. I do not at all imagine these "investment houses" have not been here for years. Nor do I see a link between an ad from them and their reading of postings. Nor did I say anything that would lead a reasonable person to that assessment. Again, the ad does not bother me as it does some others. I don't think it is an abrogation of the "promise" to not have banner ads. What is of concern is what else Datek or any other advertiser is going to get for their money. Simple click-here to get to Datek is just not worth it - there has to be another quid-pro-quo in these types of arrangements. If you see nothing wrong with someone raising these concerns, I suggest you do a little research into privacy issues, particularly profiling. Mr. K.
