Then later they quote Kumar of piper jaffrey who states "AMD can do no better than stay even (on MHZ) against the pentium III".

One of the fundamental axioms of the universe states that "AMD will never surpass Intel clock speeds." Other technical considerations are irrelevant.

The statesments re the Mhz at par aren't at odds with each other. I *believe* that AMD's K7 and Intel's PIII-600 will be available at almost the same time.
