tom's hardware is a pretty good source for dates...

even if the guy does come across as the second coming of God. He has never, to my knowledge, been a big supporter of Rambus, but he has only been a grudging supporter of Intel! He loves to point out their delays and strategic mistakes...mistakes he wouldn't make if he was Andy Grove.

I do think the Camino and Carmel dates are meaningful. Even if not verified, a Labor Day kickoff is far superior to a September 30 kickoff. This produces almost a full first quarter's revenue stream for Rambus (10/99-12/99)rather than only two months. Stated another way, the ramp won't take as long to impact royalty payments (which, I understand, will follow one quarter later). Earnings estimates will be adjusted soon to reflect these better prospects.

Carmel offers, in my limited view, a more exciting short term path to genuine need of Rambus capabilities than Camino. This is where PC Expo might help us a bit.

Still looks like the Intel/Rambus partnership is as strong or stronger than ever. There will be bumps in the road, but as long as these two stay in line together, the ultimate result will be as we all hope.
