Joanie, dump the 'rettes. My parents both died from emphysema - a miserable way to go - and when they were too young. My mom said it was like holding a pillow over your face and trying to breathe. You CAN do it - my husband and I did. He did it cold turkey and I weaned myself a bit at a time, taking a few puffs, putting it out, relighting same one several hours later, doing the same thing. It worked - I never wanted another one. My kids don't smoke, though many of their friends do. It is an evil thing. Joe, thank you for the poem. Maybe we should become the poetry thread! I love dogs - my two are an endless source of love. (So are my 3 cats!)
