oh my Lord! Just got done spending about 20 minutes on Tom Pabst's anti-3dfx channel (ie Tom's Hardware) reading the latest from Omid's Smokezine column.

Excuse me while I wipe the filth off my eyes and fingers. Ughh..

Omid has some preliminary May PC Data retail numbers which again put 3dfx well ahead it its competitors. However, not surprisingly, 3dfx numbers are down from 45% in April to 36% in May. Omid uses this Voodoo3 post launch drop as a rallying point for Nvidia's partners Creative and Diamond as TNT2 were pushed into the channel. Unfortunately, the numbers aren't as positive for these vendors as might be expected with the TNT2 launch. Combined Creative and Diamond gained 3% to approximately 21% (total). In fact, ATI was the big winner in May gaining about 4% from 20% to 24%. Matrox's share was insignificant enough that I don't recall if it changed but all the other minor vendors picked up 2% to end up with 9% probably reflecting TNT2 sales.

...Sega will be the only new console out this x-mas

I was talking about Dreamcast. I thought the Dreamcast was set for delivery in the U.S. in September? At any rate, it is for sale now in Asia. Truly impressive graphics.
