Thread: Is Dell ready for a merger or acquisition? The PE has come down quite a bit. I think that was the only reason (very high PE) we did not see some sort of M & A activitity. How about a merger with a company like Unisys(or others--HP etc.)? Do what Compaq tried with Digital with the only difference being that Dell should execute. They could then challenge IBM. I don't know if it could hurt Dell stock price in the short term but long term, the stock should do well in such an arrangement. I think something like this is inevitable along with internet related plans.

Not entirely true...one example: They put CEO of Tyco International on the cover 6 months ago (next Jack Welch said the article)....stock has done well...there are other example...

I do agree that their bearish stance has been overdone (for quite a while now)..

Too bad to see Barron's put Dell on the cover story.
Barron's really sucks. They are always wrong. This is not
a good sign for Dell.

On the other hand, the guy they are quoting has an almost
perfect track-record of being right.
