That's fine as long as they also pay for the land and buildings and books and teachers and maintenance. Then it's a private school and they can do what they want. Otherwise they are using government property to promote their religious views and that's a violation of the First Amendment.

truedog, I used American Heritage Dictionary, 3rd edition. In order to communicate, people need to agree on definitions of words.

Statues can come in variant sizes, this one could be the size of a teakettle if that makes a difference. BTW, a statue of buddha is not by any stretch of the imagination 'secular'.

To me it is a matter of respect for different belief structures. Not everyone believes that your god is the only god, or the true god.
