RED HERRINGS PICKS OF THE WEEK
Ariba provides intranet and Internet-based
business-to-business e-commerce solutions for
operating resources, such as information technology
and telecommunications equipment; professional
services; supplies, facilities, and office equipment; and
expense items. The company is based in Sunnyvale,
California. IPO traders think this could be the
best-performing IPO of the week. They look for the
stock to trade at a $5-a-share premium over issue
price.

San Francisco-based Digital Island is a provider of
e-business networks. The company operates through
four data centers located in Honolulu, London, New
York City, and Santa Clara, California. It serves
clients in 17 countries. Among the company's clients
are Autodesk (Nasdaq: ADSK), Cisco Systems
(Nasdaq: CSCO), ETrade (Nasdaq: EGRP), and
National Semiconductor (NYSE: NSM).
Handicappers expect the IPO to start trading at a
premium of at least $3 a share.

Juniper Networks provides Internet infrastructure
solutions to ISPs and other telecommunications service
providers. The company delivers next-generation
Internet backbone routers for service provider
networks. It is located in Mountain View, California.
It's another hot IPO from Goldman Sachs; IPO
traders look for the stock to open $3 a share or better.

Ramp Networks, located in Santa Clara, California,
provides Internet access solutions for the small-office
market. The company's WebRamp allows multiple
users in a small office to share the same Internet
connection simultaneously. The concept is something
like a telephone party line from the 1920s, now for the
Internet. The IPO is hot, and some handicappers see
an opening premium of $5 a share or better.

TD Waterhouse is the second-largest discount broker
in the world, with over 2.6 million customers, and it's
the third-largest online discount brokerage. This is
another very hot IPO, and experts see the shares
trading up $5 a share and more.
