My last OT post re MSFT, with apologies to the thread --

I never said I didn't envy his accomplishments. But envy is not the same as admiration. It's all smoke and mirrors, marketing brilliance and predatory business practices. More power to him, strictly in terms of pure business success. He was visionary in seeing where the market was going and brutal to his competitors in getting there first.

But innovate? Perhaps in marketing and business practices but not one iota in technology. Please, don't try to sell that here unless you care to back it up.

In the long run, MSFT will either learn to innovate or they will perish. However, a corporation their size has enough cash to take their sweet time to learn such lessons. But one day, be it one year from now or 10 years from now, they will be one-upped and miss the "next big thing", just like they nearly did on the Internet. But next time, they might not be nimble enough -- and lucky enough -- to recover.

I'll read your reply, especially if you care to back up your assertions of MSFT innovation with fact. But since it's SO far off-topic, I won't reply out of courtesy to the thread.

Awaiting some evidence of my alleged "ignorance"...
