No, I can't verify the Elder comments contributed to a "son". Yes he did sell his course for $5000 1950 dollars. He maintained his airplanes all thru the depression from trading. His glory days was in the early 1900s. I have heard that Gambling may have played a role in cutting his fortunes down.

Popular until after death - the stock market wasn't popular until years after his death. Look at some volume figures from 50s and 60s.

Gann will be famous and used 100 years from now, when others are forgotten.

Eric,

I've read and heard the same about Gann.

I once read that Gann was never able to support his family off of his trading...

I think, based on my own reading about the man, that he had numerous successes with his trading. Perhaps he was a poor money manager. I read an interview years ago with Gann's son. He said, for the most part, his father's income was generated by his teaching his methods.

I also think that much of the "lore" about Gann has been invented in the last 20-30 years. I was never able to satisfy myself that his methods were as good as the simplicity approach advocated by so many on this thread. That's why I took Ganntrader off my machine and stopped messing with those "funny" looking charts. KISS!

Ken
