GMGC higher in preopen due to a minority stake in company by ATHM BNBN up as well - looks to be a great day! 08:49 ET Excite@Home (ATHM) 52 7/16: --Update-- Company also announces $6 million minority investment in General Magic (GMGC 4 7/8), the back-end provider of the service. GMGC rose more than a point Friday after Wall Street Journal reported possibility of deal between the companies. ATHM indicated 1/2 higher, while GMGC bid up 3/8. 08:42 ET barnesandnoble.com (BNBN) 18: Several of company's underwriting firms start coverage of stock this morning. Lead underwriter Goldman Sachs initiates shares of online book retailer with a "market outperform" rating; co-managers Merrill Lynch and Wit Capital start with a near-term "accumulate" and "buy" rating, respectively.
