Re: Imation CD-RW

Right. It writes CD-RW at only 2x. And what does it cost, pray tell? If I were going to get an 8x CD-R, I'd get the Plextor. Comes with a SCSI interface, and writes CD-RW faster than Imation's.

My bet is that Iomega's ZipCD will garner significant market share. Their brand name is far better known than Imation, and the inclusion of an installation video is a good touch.

Twenty five million Zips is kind of cool, too.

<<Iomega is late to the party. Imation has been selling CD-RW dries for a while now>>. actually, through Nomai, IOM has been selling them longer; but since Nomai is a subsidiary, that doesn't count does it. nonetheless, Nomai in the past had been selling only to Europe; why, i have no idea.

As usual RR misses the point.

It isn't about "getting to the party first" and it really isn't about state of the art technology when it comes to CDRW for IOM.

IT IS ABOUT OFFERING A COMPHREHENSIVE LINE OF PRODUCTS IN THE REMOVABLE STORAGE SECTOR.

For the intermediate term the products that will bring home the bacon for IOM are Zip, Clik! and disks...those are the products with which IOM must grow market share at profitable margins.
