SanDisk Expands Retail Product Line to Offer Broadest Selection of Flash Memory Cards
SanDisk Acts as a Single Source Supplier Becoming the Only Company to Offer CompactFlash, MultiMediaCard, PC Card and SmartMedia Flash Memory Cards to the Retail Channel
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 21, 1999-- SanDisk Corporation (Nasdaq:SNDK - news) announced today that it will act as a single source supplier of flash memory to the retail channel by adding the SmartMedia(TM) flash card form factor to broaden the range of products it offers retailers.

SanDisk is the only vendor to supply the retail channel with CompactFlash(TM) (CF(TM)), MultiMediaCard(TM), PC Card and SmartMedia, the most popular flash memory card formats. SanDisk, inventor of the industry leading CompactFlash memory card and developer of the flash MultiMediaCard, currently plans to offer the SmartMedia card only in the retail channel.

Richard Dyer, vice president of retail sales at SanDisk, said, ''Our CompactFlash memory card has proven to be the right digital film solution for the majority of digital camera manufacturers. However, some of our retail channel customers also sell digital cameras using SmartMedia cards. These retailers have requested that we act as a single source of supply for all flash memory card formats. This move is intended to meet the requirement of these customers and further enhances our already strong presence in this channel.''

SanDisk Corporation, the world's largest supplier of flash data storage products, designs, manufactures and markets industry-standard, solid-state data, digital imaging and audio storage products using its patented, high density flash memory and controller technology. SanDisk is based in Sunnyvale.
