From MD- USA interview LOL

Q: Dell is an attacker. Compaq is your attackee. They sell computers in stores and risk upsetting all those retailers and doing grave damage to themselves if they simply copy you. What can they do?

A: I prefer not to give them any advice. I have a few ideas, but I'm not going to share them.

<<Funny that you say that, given that the analyst at First Boston that covers DELL, Mike Kwatinetz, went there from PaineWebber.>>

GVTucker: Maybe he left Pain Webber for some GOOD reasons <G> ....Kwatinetz has been at CS First Boston for a while now and IMO he is one of the 'straight shooters' who covers the PC industry in a thorough and balanced way. What is amazing to me is that 'Pain -- in the Assets' Webber still has a neutral rating on both DELL and Compaq. Give me a break. Are they really providing their clients with honest feedback about the TRUE POTENTIAL of each firm? I think they need to do some more homework -- IMO, they don't accurately understand how to forecast the impact of DELL's powerful business model. Pain Webber acts as if they are scared about the future of the PC market BUT many of the other analysts (in firms like SG Cowen, CS First Boston, and Bear Stearns) are becoming more bullish -- even in light of all the Y2K hype. Hmmm....Maybe the Pain Webber funds still need more cheap DELL shares. Well, they better act soon. The DELL train has left the station and Pain Webber can do very little to stop it !!

Good Luck Investing.

Best Regards,

Scott
