Cable Operators Create a Forum to Encourage Web Content Programmers to Work With Them; MediaOne, Time Warner & Road Runner Organize the Broadband Developers Conference

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 21, 1999--

Industry Support Exceeds Expectations

for June 30 Los Angeles Event

For the first time, multiple system cable operators MediaOne and Time Warner Communications have joined with high-speed online service Road Runner to organize the Broadband Developers Conference.

This history making public forum is designed to develop new relationships between the cable companies and web site programmers. The event is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, June 30 on the Sony Pictures Studios lot, and appropriately on the "Wheel of Fortune" soundstage.

"For years, cable operators have enjoyed a unique and close relationship with video providers whose TV brands range from AMC to ZDTV, and from Discovery to HBO. Now it's really about cable helping to further the Internet brands of important new web sites that hold entertainment, educational and informational value for our customers," said Giselle Acevedo-Franco, director of Corporate Communications for MediaOne in Los Angeles.

"We need to work closely with web content developers to maximize our bandwidth resources, just as we do video channels. And for anyone looking to gain an audience-based business, distribution is key," added Amber Minson, Product Manager for the Time Warner Communications Los Angeles Division of Road Runner.

The Broadband Developers Conference is designed to help the two entities communicate and understand each others' needs, and will demonstrate the value that cable-delivered Broadband offers to new Internet-based programming ventures.

The conference, whose website is www.bbbdevcon.com, has quickly been accepted by the leading content and technology companies ZDTV, Bravo Networks, Microsoft, Veon, Com21, Nortel Networks, Intel, Columbia TriStar Interactive, Gotham Interactive, Arepa, AMC, innovatv.com, Real Networks, Cache Flow, and many others.
