4,567,000 Tonne drill indicated resource at Leopard Fissure

- significant increase in kimberlite resource at Klipspringer Mine -

TORONTO, June 21 /CNW/ - SouthernEra Resources Limited (SUF - TSE) today
announced that recent drilling results have significantly increased the
indicated kimberlite resource for the Leopard fissure at its 100% owned
Klipspringer underground mine.
Following an extensive drilling programme along a 3.45km strike length,
the indicated kimberlite resource to the 1,000 metre elevation is calculated
to be 4,567,700 tonnes, using a specific gravity (S.G.) of 2.45.
The 1,000 metre elevation lies between 500 and 630 metres below the
surface outcrop of the Leopard fissure.
Bulk sampling to date from the Leopard fissure has resulted in an in situ
grade of 73 carats per hundred tonnes.
A 1,000 tonne per day recovery plant has already been installed on the
property to process ore from SouthernEra's Klipspringer mine.
The underground development programme on the Leopard fissure is well
advanced and treatment of ore commenced to-day.
A 1997 sale of 4,832 carats of Leopard fissure diamonds, realised
US$118.71 net (after commission) per carat.
''These results confirm and significantly enhance the long term resource
of the Leopard fissure system'' says Dr. Chris Jennings, President of
SouthernEra.
