Lante gets financing from group including Dell

CHICAGO, June 21 (Reuters) - Lante Corp., an electronic commerce services
provider, said Monday it has received $25 million in financing from an investor
group comprised of Chicago investment firm Frontenac Co., computer maker
Dell Computer Corp. and members of Lante's advisory group.

Lante said the funds will be used for expansion of its infrastructure to support
rapid growth, for advertising and promotion and for possible acquisitions.

"Lante is an attractive investment opportunity for Dell," said Alex Smith, vice
president of Dell's business-development group. "And leading e-business
consulting capabilities are increasingly important to Dell and to our
customers."

Dell Computer is the world's leading direct computer systems company, based
on revenues of $19.9 billion for the past four quarters.

Chicago-based Frontenac makes private equity investments in companies
providing information technology services, consumer and industrial, and health
care services. The firm's current fund, Frontenac VII, was formed in 1997 and
has $300 million of equity capital.

In another development, Lante said that Rudy Puryear, an Andersen
Consulting Global Managing Partner -- eCommerce, was named as president
and chief executive officer, effective in July. Mark Tebbe, who founded the
company in 1984 and previously served in this position, will remain chairman
