Carl: "The debt is long term, and the cash is in hand." Not quite that simple. A lot of the cash (about $350 mil+ is MUEI's, about $500 mil is comitted to RDRAM development, 100s of mils are comitted to the workers at the Italy fabs, etc) is not quite unencumbered. The debt starts to come due on 1/1/00.
MU's "net liquid assets" are probably about $400-500 mil, as estimated using Zacks or a similar approach, at this time and that includes their share in MUEI.
