>>PixelFusion First to Utilize Rambus Technology for High Performance Windows NT Graphics Chip<<

Message 10201784

milehigh,
i would like to comment on this post of yours from earlier today.
this seemingly innocuous announcement actually is of enormous value and imo marks the beginning of what i have written about concerning rmbs graphics design wins. or the second, if you want to consider sony first.
a bit of history, last year there were two companies (i remember cirrhus logic + 1) using rambus in graphics chips. they both stopped production almost simultaneously and rmbs took a big hit. we were told that the reason for terminating production was purely business and had nothing to do with rmbs technology. still the earnings were going to go down and rmbs share price suffered at the time.

this pixelfusion is being portrayed as the "first" new graphics chip using rmbs technology. that indicates to me more are coming. at any rate this is certainly a big surprise and a new source of revenue for this year q4.

as i have said nearly every day, awesome new design wins are coming. we are just seeing the tip of the iceberg imo. every new design win means more royalties for rmbs.

this was one huge announcement you posted. it was a little ignored with all of the other day's events.
thanks,
unclewest
