I have kids - maybe that colors my perceptions. But even when I didn't have kids ( and was unsure if we ever would) I did not resent my annual $3k+ going toward public schools. If it's relevant - do you have children? Is it ok for me to ask that, Chris?

By placing my children in e.g. a private Catholic
school (K thru 12) I am reducing their demand on the public education system to zero.

But then, what about people who never have children and have paid taxes through a whole lifetime where they have placed zero demand on the public education system, and gotten no direct benefit out of the system?

Same issue.
