Interesting magazine just launched by WIND:

eet.com

You can download the edition in Acrobat format. It contains lots of information, including several unpublicized wins.

Hi David,

Remember AOL's earlier announcement of using NCI's software for its set-top boxes? My guess is that these Hughes set-tops are the ones that AOL was talking about. Since NCI uses VxWorks, it is very likely that these set-tops use VxWorks.

Even if the Intel/Hughes/AOL set-tops are not using VxWorks, it is still encouraging to see how determined AOL and Intel are at pushing their non-CE platforms. I certainly view AOL/Intel as candidates with the power and interest to go against Microsoft. This will, at least, increase WRS' chances to succeed in the set-top market. (One shouldn't be surprised that Intel tries its best to support CE also. But for Intel to come out and stand on the other side of Microsoft in public shows that there are a lot frictions between the two, and even more importantly, Intel's success in the embedded market does not depend on the success of CE.)
