They make breakaway collars for kitties. Maybe it was that they can't hide from bigger animals? Our new kitties don't seem to be roamers the way Blue and Pink were, so hopefully they'll live longer. I'd like to put a damn siren around Shy the Cat so I'd know when he was coming into our house. I'm tired of his spraying my laundry room walls. Our vet charges 80.00 for a neutering. I'm frankly just not willing to pay that or try to capture an adult feral cat and transport him. THese are the cats that give nice kitties a bad name.
