I think 80 is very high. Once in grad school, I picked a cat up off the streets-- I was always doing this- and since we had no money, I took him to this place that said they'd do it for 10.00. I don't know what it was or how they did it---but when I think back on it, I get sick to my stomach at my ignorance. It was out in the country and they told me to wait in the car and they'd fix him- Mosca, a wonderful marmalade cat. I don't think they gave him any painkillers- they brought him out in a few minutes and he was crazed. He sat in the back of the car just making weird noises. I took him home and he spent the next twenty four hours humping everything in sight. After that he was fine though. A wonderful cat. I suppose it was no worse than circumcising infants. Eeek
