I think Ammo should enjoy "Brave New World." It is fairly easy reading, for one thing. It is nowhere near as gloomy as that other famous anti-utopian novel -- Orwell's 1984. Huxley's dystopia is a scientific one, not a political one. And many of the Brave New World's "scientific advances" (e.g., "soma," birth control pills, genetic engineering) have been realized since the book came out. In fact, that inspired Huxley to write a follow-up -- Brave New World Revisited.

Would be interested to hear Ammo's reaction. Most kids I know have liked the novel.
