Gawd, I hate to disabuse you, but it's my moral duty as a near-atheist. :-)

I have extensive experience with nitrogen iodide. While it is easy to make and awesomely touch sensitive - its brisance (explosive power per volume) is actually quite low. A good smidge of nitrogen iodide will slightly dish a nickel. A good smidge of nitroanything will perforate that nickel and leave the rim clean.
I have the Oklahoma Subway Tokens to prove it.
