Why is sun with its high 48 PE less "undervalued" than Dell with its 56 PE? Whose earnings growth rate is slowing, SUNW's or DELL'S?

Regards,

saw Michael Dell on CNN today...seems like he's the one who's going out of his way lately to gain publicity for his company since he's been the lowest key "technology" CEO for the past ten years. I think he is beginning to realize there isnt going to be a whole lot left for Dell since he neither owns or develops his own technology and adds no value beyond his distribution model - can you think of a technology innovation that Dell has created or will lead in the next decade? Once a cheaper date comes along like Emachines - Microsoft and Intel wont need him anymore and he'll be the next Eckhard Pfeiffer or Lew Platt but one with a P/E that is higher than Sun's unlike HP or Compaq
.

James,

Good Luck. You're gonna need it. The computer business
is not a cyclical industry. We're witnessing an historic
shift away from PC's. Mike Dell is just whistlin' dixie.
High P/E's are just a vote of confidence in the company
from the market and as long as the earnings keep rolling
in it will stay high.
