In my mind there are several different kinds of partners. One type is a partner with a pocket book willing to pay for production and streaming. Obviously AXC has been soliciting that type of relationship with reasonable success. I would characterize this type of relationship as supply-pull, or in other words, by supplying narrowly focused programming, Ampex and its partners can pull traffic to their sites.

The other type is to partner with people who can drive traffic to the Ampex site. This could for example involve a relationship with RNWK where downloaded copies of Real Player come with links to Ampex as a Channel. It could involve partnerships with other high traffic sites such as AOL, Yahoo, Silicon Investor <G>, or whoever. PSI Net may serve as one start into this area, but I haven't seen any evidence that they are driving traffic to the site, but only that they are pulling traffic by adding programming. The CBS-King World connection may also serve this function, if people looking for Hollywood Squares get redirected to AENTV.

To grow at the fastest rate I think Ampex, AENTV, and TVoW can use partners that increase the drawing and staying power, but also partners that can push traffic to Ampex sites to see what is there. If I had a first choice, I'd like to see Ampex listed as a Channel on Real Player or Microsoft.

however,
i suspect it is a somewhat different kind of partner to which carl alludes.
