I have no position in CCSI. I'd like to interject that when my daughter was born just over 2 years ago, I had to sit in the room while they pricked her foot and squeezed out enough blood to fill their vial for a bilirubin test. She screamed and cried and looked to her daddy for help. I could do nothing but watch. I would have paid a fortune for a non-invasive solution. I know that this stuff is meaningless to you wexler, but it isn't to a parent.

Funny, Janybird didn't respond to my question about CLIA. If she thinks it is irrelevant she might want to start here:

hcfa.gov

HCFA has a few hoops for the Tlc Bilitest to jump through before we see mommies at home (let alone physicians in their offices) gently testing infant's bilirubin levels (with machines costing $3000 a pop?). Perhaps CLIA has been addressed in the company filings. I just don't recall any mention of the test's status.

<Current bilirubin blood tests are safe, effective, extremely accurate, and most importantly...very, very cheap.>

I don't know what a neonatal bilirubin test costs the hospital or how much third parties reimburse but my local hospital charges $32. I am sure third parties are going to pay less than that which makes the $10 per lensette a significant chunk of the total revenue generated by the test. I have no idea whether that is an attractive reimbursement formula or not for the hospital.
