SAN JOSE, Calif., July 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Brocade Communications Systems,
Inc. (BROCADE(R)) (NASDAQ:BRCD), a leading supplier of Fibre Channel fabric
switches for Storage Area Networking, announced today its support of the
Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA) Storage Area Network Integrated
Technology Initiative (SANITI), which delivers an open platform for management
of storage area networks. BROCADE is the first Storage Area Network (SAN)
partner to integrate its solutions with CA's Unicenter TNG Framework, an
industry-leading, end-to-end enterprise management solution. As part of
SANITI, BROCADE and CA will demonstrate a SAN solution featuring BROCADE Fibre
Channel fabric switches being managed by Unicenter TNG at the upcoming CA
World conference in New Orleans, LA, July 18-21 at booth 2821.
BROCADE has also joined the CA Development Partner Program to further the
interoperability between BROCADE and CA solutions to facilitate the enterprise
management of open storage area networks. The BROCADE SilkWorm(R) family of
Fibre Channel switches and software connects servers with storage devices
through a Fibre Channel SAN and allows companies to access and share storage
in a high-performance, manageable, and scalable environment. As a CA
development partner, BROCADE and CA will work together to ensure full
interoperability of BROCADE switches with the CA Unicenter TNG Framework.
Through this product integration, BROCADE and CA mutual customers will
gain the ability to monitor and control BROCADE SilkWorm switches through the
Unicenter TNG solution. Customers will be able to discover and manage BROCADE
switches "out of the box," with no additional configuration required. BROCADE
customers will also be able to consolidate management information and leverage
the SAN management capabilities already available from a SilkWorm fabric
today, from within Unicenter TNG.
"Effective management of open storage area networks in the enterprise is
one of the most important requirements for our customer base," said
Peter Tarrant, BROCADE vice president of marketing and business development.
"We support CA's initiative to provide open, standards-based management
solutions for SANs. We look forward to working with their development team to
ensure integration and interoperability between our leading Fibre Channel
switches and the Unicenter TNG Framework."
"BROCADE, a market leader in SAN solutions, has integrated its SAN
solutions with our SAN-enabled Framework," said Michael LaTorraca, vice
president of development partner programs at Computer Associates. "By ensuring
full interoperability between Unicenter TNG and BROCADE Fibre Channel
connectivity devices, we increase the enterprise management functionality for
our mutual customers."
BROCADE will also be presenting on enterprise storage area networks at CA
World, Thursday, July 22 at 10:00 a.m., Session UPD35P.
CA's SANITI leverages CA's industry-leading Unicenter TNG Framework to
provide an open platform for management of storage area network devices. It
delivers the benefits of single-console management with advanced GUI
technology delivering detection, mapping, and end-to-end management, including
servers of any platform, Fibre Channel hubs, switches, bridges,
fibre-attached volumes or RAID arrays and storage devices such as tape
libraries.
