Re: The future of Pure Play Net Banks

I'm honestly not a fan of the pure play remaining Net banks...In my opinion they're stuck between a rock and a hard place...They need the online brokers alot more than the online brokers or offline banks need them. The online brokers have the marketing muscle and critical mass of customers to push growth of online banking...As online banking picks up speed and the Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo etc continue to pump money into gravitating their existing millions of customers to online banking - the squeeze will be felt hardest by the pure play online banks. My message to people like NTBK and others- sell out now to the e-brokers who can offer you shelter from the national offline banks...in the case of EGRP they jumped over probably a year's worth of regulatory hurdles and picked up quality technology by taking out Telebanc...For once I don't think this was an acquisition of eyeballs (i.e. customers). More importantly the TBFC acquisition will force the other brokers and offline banks to gear up their online banking initiatives.

Cheers,
