Great post Charles. I agree with everything you said but there
needs to be a correction made. You said;

Finally Microsoft OS is necessary for any flash memory system which attempts to perform more than one function eg. text to voice plus voice to text plus......

I think you meant to say MicroOS, not Microsoft OS.

Cheers.

Bob

Nice post CL. May I take it that you meant, MicroOS and not Microsoft OS?

Finally Microsoft OS is necessary for any flash memory system which attempts to perform more than one function eg. text to voice plus voice to text plus......

I have been thinking much the same thing about the devices being capable of playing all the available compression codecs. That is what Mr. Charliognne of the SDMI has said.

I hope that the general public is educated on this point before a bunch of consumers go out and waste their money by purchasing a one compression player or MP3.

Mark

"...Interactive Objects (IO) and SanDisk have paired up to provide technology that will enable storage of digital music files for Palm-sized PCs. IO developed Microsoft's Mobile Audio Player, which gives Windows CE devices and Palm-sized PCs the capability to play digital music downloaded from the Internet. Now, SanDisk will use IO's technology in its CompactFlash memory cards for the handheld devices. By using CompactFlash cards, boasts Mark Phillips, chief technology officer at IO, consumers get "the best of both worlds: high quality digital audio and lots of it." A 96MB CompactFlash card can store up to three hours of digital audio." Webnoize.com

Damn! No mention of e.Digital.

Does anybody else find this hard to believe? Where do you suppose he read this?

Aren't there products out there that don't use MicroOS, but can handle ttv/vtt ?
