Thanks Rtev, now I see where you get all your information... I'll check out that Paul Allen website (especially the "ask paul" option - rofl!).

I have noticed Allen never buys two of any market space (brokers, portals etc.) which makes me think he plans to combine some of the companies in some way, which is the best situation for gnet since it means they won't be displaced by anybody else. Of course there are some companies in there like Zany Brainy that don't quite fit in with the Allen broadband strategy, maybe those are just one-offs. I think metricom is one of those... somewhat apart from the cableco's, gnet, etc.

I was a little glad to hear Liddle is still down here, he was one of the few Parc guys who realized that a spiffy front end still has to do something useful as far as corporate data is concerned, Metaphor was a pretty interesting venture although a little ahead of its time, in some way a precursor to client/server database stuff.
