The reason I chose the 5 minute time frame has to do with the fact that I don't want to take trades home overnight, and the fact that 5 minute bars is how much risk I am willing to take on each trade.

For example, today there was a Trader Vic 2B top on the 15M chart as well as the 5M. Given that my time frame is 5M, I would follow it as far as I can on my time frame and leave the rest to everybody else. I would exit on the 5M time frame by following the action on the 5M bars. Traders using the 15M chart would have taken their short home since there was no signal to close out the trade yet.
