One of the highlights of Mr. Moore's insight is that TRUE gorillas can be purchased late in their development because of their sustained competitive advantage. All GG investors should read the book at least twice-some of the points are subtle.
To make italics put "<i" before phrase, and " /i>" after it. Don't use the quote marks.Bold is similar except use "<b" and "/b>". These are html tags, but SI accepts only limited HTML command. If you are interested, a good primer on HTML is "HTML for Dummies". I hate the title but it's a cheap, easy to read and use primer, worth buying.
I supose there are degrees f discontinuity, and RDRAM is somewhere in the middle. I own some, but at this price it's anticipating pretty far into the future. IMHO, the competition faster than 130 MHz is mostly vaporware

I know LindyBill doesn't like chip stocks. However, Rambus is more like software

I am very interested in Rambus, just tied up in Q right now. If it is as big as everyone thinks, it will still be one hell of a buy a year from now, and we will have a lot more questions answered. Kind of the same place I was in on Q last year. I knew it would explode if they won the Ericson suit, but I wanted to wait and be sure. I had to pay a lot more to get in, but, I got a "slam dunk" by waiting, and I made more money than I lost by waiting, by investing in AOL and Cisco while waiting.

Most people think they have lost the chance to buy a stock if they miss the first big surge. This might be true on some of the "dot-coms", and other normal stocks, but not on Gorillas. Look at Cisco. I did not get in '96, and did not take a major position until '98, but I am still up 262% overall on it.

stan, great discussion on RMBS and the high speed RAM industry. My only problem with all this RMBS jargon is that RMBS has a terrible reputation on the Street (IMHO), so regardless of the merits of its technology, institutional backing of this stock is fleeting at best.

Just my two cents.

Stan,

Thanks for your thoughts about Rambus. How do you respond to the suggestion that Rambus's business is based on Intel's tornado rather than its own?
