NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 22, 1999-- PC Expo, Javits Center, -- Lernout & Hauspie (NASDAQ:LHSP - news; EASDAQ:LHSP) (L&H(tm)), today announced the availability of its new L&H Voice Xpress(tm) Mobile Professional. The new product, specifically designed to meet the demands of the mobile professional, combines L&H's award winning continuous speech dictation product, L&H Voice Xpress Professional Version 4, with the new Olympus DS-150 digital hand-held recorder. The product is expected to boost productivity for mobile professionals by enabling them to conveniently dictate notes, e-mails, letters and other documents while away from their computer and later use L&H's Voice Xpress speech recognition technology to instantly transcribe recorded .wav files into text. L&H also announced a special $30.00 introductory mail-in rebate with the purchase of L&H Voice Xpress Mobile Professional.

Users can dictate up to 75 minutes of speech with the recently released Olympus DS-150 digital voice recorder, a lightweight (2 oz.), elegant and versatile device that can easily be carried in a pocket.

These mobile professionals need an alternative solution for accomplishing their jobs where they don't have access to or don't wish to carry a PC or laptop,'' said Anatoly Tikhman, President of L&H's PC Applications Division. ''L&H Voice Xpress Mobile Professional is an ideal product for professionals who need to create documents and increase their productivity while away from their computer. L&H's improvements in usability, accuracy and performance underscore L&H's commitment to the user and its continued leadership in the expanding speech recognition market.''

Product Features and Benefits
L&H Voice Xpress Mobile Professional enhances the productivity of professionals by allowing them to conveniently capture their thoughts while they are away from their computer. Features that increase the accuracy and convenience of the solution include;
Dictation in High Noise Environments - Users can dictate with a headset and achieve high recognition accuracy in most environments regardless of background noise; Batch Processing - Users can continue working on their PC while L&H Voice Xpress transcribes digitally recorded .wav files into text in the background; One Language Model - Users do not have to create separate profiles for each input device. Following an initial training for each, information is synchronized across all devices. Customization of vocabulary applies to a headset or a hand-held recording device, eliminating the time-consuming duplication of effort required to customize multiple profiles. XpressRecorder -Enables users to easily and intuitively record, listen to and edit digitally recorded .wav files in any Windows environment. This utility allows users to remove unwanted speech in their .wav files before they are converted into text. XpressRecorder can be installed on any laptop and also be used to record dictation that can be e-mailed to an assistant for transcription using L&H Voice Xpress. Digital Pairing - Precisely matches a user's recorded .wav file with the transcribed text and allows users to hear a segment of the original recording by simply highlighting the desired sections. This feature helps users or their assistants proof and edit documents created using a recorded dictation.
L&H Voice Xpress Mobile Professional is based on L&H Voice Xpress Professional Version 4 core engine and includes the full set of continuous speech recognition and command and control features. Specifically, most users are able to enroll in just five minutes, benefit from accuracy improvements and have full command and control support of Microsoft® Office 2000.
