World Wide Wireless Communications Announces Joint Venture With ESN Satellite & Cable Television Network

Agreement To Provide For Wireless Internet Service Throughout Ghana

June 22, 1999 10:36 AM
SAN FRANCISCO, June 22 /PRNewswire/ -- World Wide Wireless Communications, Inc. WLGS and ESN Satellite & Cable TV Network of Ghana, West Africa, have announced their intention to commence broad bandwidth wireless Internet and data services (MMDS) throughout Ghana. This agreement will create the first wireless Internet, data, and IP telephone service in the country. The ability to provide access speeds of up to 10 Megabytes per second to business and homes without costly infrastructure improvements, is seen in Ghana as a distinct advantage in the stable and fast developing West African nation.
Kwasi Sefa-Boakye, Chief Executive Officer of the ESN Group, stated, "From Distance Education to Electronic Commerce, the benefits of the World Wide Wireless Network are apparent. This technology and the further integration of World Wide Wireless Communications' products, which will interface with the network, represent an exciting opportunity for the people of Ghana as the country moves forward in the 21st Century."

Today, while Douglas P. Haffer, President and Chief Executive Officer of World Wide Wireless Communications continued his discussions in Europe regarding the expansion of World Wide Wireless's operations on that continent, he noted, "Obtaining the authority to offer wireless Internet service throughout the entire nation of Ghana, has provided the Company the opportunity to become the industry leader in a fast developing part of the world which is often overlooked by U.S. technology firms." Haffer added, "This will be a noteworthy showcase of how our wireless system permits the leap-frogging of costly infrastructural improvements while simultaneously providing state-of-the-art Internet, data, and IP telephone services."

World Wide Wireless Communications and ESN Satellite & Cable Television Network note the leadership position of Ghana in West African economic development. Often viewed as a model of political stability and progressive growth in the region, Ghana, with a population of 20 million and a high demand for quality international telecommunications services, was an obvious choice for initiating of the Company's services in Africa.

Looks like SYCD close to popping again. Rumored news release soon (actually rumor was for last week). Very little selling since the last pop. Thin volume walkdown. Will really go this time. If you can put some $$ in and let it sit for 1 or 2 weeks, should be a great play.
