I have been through it a few times. The Bridge- tunnel spans the narrowest part of the mouth of the Chesapeake, connecting the Delmarva peninsula with the Hampton Roads area (Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Newport News)...My wife and I once got stuck on the Bridge-tunnel due to a slow oil leak. Because of back roads, the trip from Annapolis is several hours, maybe four to the bridge, and by the time we got there, so much oil had leaked that the motor burnt out mid- way. Fortunately, traffic was not too heavy, and someone called the troopers on their CB to rescue us. They had a heavy machine that pushed the car onto an off- road area at the start of one of the tunnels...
