YouthStream Media Networks AcquiresHelloXpress USA; Becomes Owner of Largest Free Postcard Network inU.S.

June 22, 1999 07:59 AM
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 22, 1999--

YouthStream Now Dominates Postcard Distribution to College Audiences in Key U.S. Markets

YouthStream Media Networks(tm) NETS , formerly known as Network Event Theater, today announced that it has acquired HelloXpress USA, Inc., the largest distributor of YouthStream's HotStamp(tm) postcards - making YouthStream the owner of the largest network of free postcard distribution in the United States. The acquisition further cements YouthStream's dominant position as the leading marketer to the 17-25 year-old marketplace. The move brings in-house YouthStream's postcard distribution in critical markets including Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Philadelphia and Washington DC, thereby enabling the company to distribute postcards more efficiently and increase the focus on its relationships with marketers. In addition to these markets, YouthStream/HotStamp recently expanded its operations into the highly trafficked Miami and Detroit markets.

YouthStream's HotStamp is the largest national free postcard advertising brand with niche programs on and off college campuses, movie theaters and record stores, utilizing over 2,000 out-of-home postcard advertising racks that distribute more than six million postcards each month. The HotStamp programs generate more than 20 million consumer passers-by each month.

The acquisition of HelloXpress USA further enhances YouthStream's position as the nation's largest provider of off-line media and marketing services to the 17-25 year-old young adult and college marketplace. Through their exclusive online partner, CommonPlaces, the developer of the mybytes.com(TM) Internet hub for college audiences, YouthStream also provides marketers with fully integrated on-line/off-line marketing opportunities to access this traditionally hard-to-reach audience. According to Jupiter Communications, college students alone are expected to spend more that $4 billion online by the year 2002.

"The key to success in reaching the young adult marketplace is distribution, awareness and high visibility," said Harlan Peltz, CEO of YouthStream Media Networks. "The extended reach of the popular HotStamp line, combined with YouthStream's additional off-line and on-line properties, enables the company to solidify our leadership position in reaching the highly desirable young adult market. YouthStream's presence in these important markets, combined with the strength of our online partner, CommonPlaces, make YouthStream the undisputed leader in this segment, providing customers with unparalleled on-line and off-line cross-marketing opportunities."
