Wrong again errosX
QPE was formed as a seperate entity from QCOM as a manufacturing relationship with SONY. QCOM's
stake was 51% and SONY's 49%. The manufacturing relationship with SONY has essentially dissolved.
SONY has built their own seperate facilty in Rancho Bernardo and continues to purchase ASICS. QCOM
is taking over production of what was the QPE facilty (and entity) with the phase out of third generation
product to the Thin Phone. To the contrary of your post QUALCOMM is looking to expand production
capacity both domesticly and abroad with the addition of new facilities not sell manufacturing facilities. The
QPE building will produce for domestic demand (and It can hardly keep up with demand.) Additional
facilities in Brazil, Mexico and China (pending)produce for foreign carriers mostly to avoid imposed tarriffs
on exports. There is no subscriber products without this facility as it still accounts for the vast majority of
production.
