Hey, t2k, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Regarding the CSCO split and splits in general, they are tricky creatures these days with no sure fire trading pattern.

I think the best summation I've heard was from a Hedge Fund Manager friend of mine. He put it simply: "Splits tend to exaggerate the mood of the Market." In other words, if the Market is in a Bull run, splits tend to help a stock as people like the concept of doubling the number of shares in a company while watching its price appreciate, even though there is no factual support to suggest that owning a stock that is splitting will make you more money. Likewise, when the Market is selling off or churning between industry groups, stocks with splits tend to exaggerate the sell off or become more volatile.

CSCO is reflecting the volatile nature of the market of late. Plain and simple. If the Bull run continues, I expect CSCO's stock will continue its march towards new highs.
