2 IPOs show no affects of weak market: Ariba and
Globespan price above their ranges
Despite a shaky market, two IPOs priced above their
initial ranges. Ariba, a company that licenses
intranet-based e-commerce software and is building a
global businss-to-business e-commerce network,
priced its highly-anticipated initial public offering of 5
million shares at $23 a share, above its upwardly
revised range of $20 - $22. The Morgan Stanley led
deal will open for trading on Wednesday. Meanwhile,
Globespan, a chipmaker for DSL equipment providers,
priced 3.25 million shares at $15. The deal had been
slated to price between $9 - $11.
