NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- The Nasdaq-Amex Market Group said Tuesday it's begun to trade options on the Credit Suisse First Boston Technology Index, made up of 75 technology stocks.

The CSFB Technology Index, which is listed on the American Stock Exchange, includes such companies as Apple (AAPL: news, msgs), Amazon.com (AMZN: news, msgs), Compaq (CPQ: news, msgs), IBM [s ibm], Sun Microsystems (SUNW: news, msgs), and Yahoo (YHOO: news, msgs).

Twenty-five of the 75 stocks were chosen by the Technology Research Group at CSFB.

"Unlike other indexes, the CSFB Technology Index weightings strike a balance between market capitalization and equal dollar weighting in a way more reflective of how technology funds invest," Clifford Weber, vice president for new product development at the Nasdaq-Amex Market Group, said in a statement.

Apple shares rose 3/8 to 46 7/8; Amazon stock rose 5 1/2 to 129; Compaq shares jumped 2 to 24 1/8; IBM stock advanced 2 7/8 to 127 5/8; Sun Microsystems shares lost 13/16 to 67 3/4; and Yahoo stock gained 6 7/8 to 165 3/4.

messages.yahoo.com

i just spoke with fred hager. he was also at the expo today. fred said he visited dell, nec and others trying to get rambus scoops..no luck. the 2 folks manning the nec booth did not know what rambus is. fred went on to say the private suite briefings are probably alive with rambus but they require private invitations and non-disclosure agreements for admittance.
fred, thank you for the call.

"Performance without restriction.
Take it from Toshiba."

Picture of two hourglasses, one with half the sand at the top,
the other a large straight-sided cylinder with a pile of sand at the
bottom. Picture of RIMM.

"Fed up with waiting for your PC to catch up with you?

Imagine how much faster and more user-friendly your next PC
could be if the CPU was no longer hampered by the memory bottleneck,
but could utilise its full power.

Our Direct RAMbus memory modules run at 800 MHz and provide data transfer rates of 1.6 Gbytes/sec. They're another innovation from Toshiba, set to become the industry standard for the next generations of PCs. As well as that, they'll provide a significant power boost for a multitude of other applications, such as graphics, games and communications.

It's technology that's available now. Why wait? Take it from Toshiba.
