Ten, Ah! You finaly brought up an interesting question. What should AMD exit strategdy be. Anyone care to speculate on. Does AMD have an Exit Stratgedy. In less than one year AMD will have two mega fabs pumping out the fastest chips in production in the world. Does there exist any CEO on the planet Who has the balls (easy Paul) to compete with Intel. Here is my prediction. Assuming Grove is still alive at the time, and active at Intel, it will be Intel that exits the market leaving the spoils to AMD. This makes perfect sense for several reasons. First, a look back into past history, it was Grove Engineered Intel exit from Dram in face of stiff Japanees compition. Second, Intel has the financial resources to pull off an exit. Third, Grove wrote a good book on the subject and coined a term inflection point. Fourth, I beleive Grove is convinced that the internet is if fact the very inflection point he was refering to. Fifth I beleive Grove is currently working on developing such a stratgedy, but faces a major problem. The Internet is a global process and highly fragmented with no one player emerging as a dominant player. If i had to spculate I would say Microsoft would have the greatest advantage in positioning with Cisco second. Intel might not even be in the top five. Following ATT,IBM, and Sony. Further there is no clear existing model for sucess in global internet dominance. Therfore no one has a greater advantage to figuring out a sucessful market dominating stratgedy for the future of global e-commerce. This does not mean Grove is not searching for the solution.
