Bangalore based Wockhardt Hospital & Heart Institute has created yet another International benchmark in its service to Heart patients. The hospital has created a " Virtual Family Visit " on its website www.whhi.com, which will set the trend on the usage of Information Technology in the Healthcare Industry.

Patients who are convalescing at the Wockhardt Heart Institute after a major Cardiac procedure like Coronary Angioplasty or Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery can send a message to their sons, daughters and relatives all over the world through the multimedia technology used in the Virtual Family Visit. The patient's message, which is recorded through a webcam as an audio/ video file and uploaded on the hospital website, can be accessed by the patient's relatives who are given a password by the hospital.

This unique concept allows patient's near & dear to not only get a first hand view of the patient's progress, but to hear them say " I am doing well " releases the anxiety and tension felt by them particularly when they are not able to make it to the patients bedside.

The site, which was recently launched, has already received 70,000 hits in 15 days and has been highly accepted by children of elderly parents who are settled abroad. This facility of "Virtual Family Visit " is given free of cost by the hospital to it's patients.

The Wockhardt Heart Institute at Bangalore also has the distinction of being on the panel of 7 international health insurance companies and the first hospital in South Asia on the panel of Bluecross & Blueshield Association, USA.
