The whole trial is revolves around the economic principle about software which Bill Gates revealed:

In most businesses, as you make more of a new product, decreasing demand and competition mean that your margins will fall. In software, however, particularly the OS, the more you make, the more broad acceptance you are getting and the more demand and less competition there is for your products because of the consumer's need to have standardized systems.

This effect is what catapulted Microsoft to the #1 capitalized public company in the world. Economists and business professors nationwide heralded Gates for having the vision and expertise to pull this off. Despite having dropped out of Harvard, Gates got A+s from all these gurus of business.

Now the DOJ and Jackson are trying to give him an "F". It's all a big political/financial power grab. Gates represents a younger generation, "new money", while old bastards like the Bob's (Dole and Bork) are pissed off because they slaved all these years for a few mil. I say screw 'em!
