It is with great sadness we receive the news of this Philipino's untimely demise! His visionary work on his theory of epithermal domes, faults and occurence of gold was proven beyond a shadow of a doubt in our minds.

His legacy, Busang II/III will bear his indelible stamp in geological annals. We shareholders owe him a huge debt of gratitude. His new ringside seat will allow him to oversee this project in an enviable way.

Our prayers and condolences to his co-workers, his family, and his progeny in years to come.

Lets not look at negative aspects of this unfortunate event until all is known. There could be all kinds of explanations all of which could point to this being just an unfortunate accident.

Bigdude......as horrific as it sounds, I think you have boldly
written what most of us fear.

I agree, there is something very strange about this reported 'accident'. Someday, a novel will be written about the Bre-X story, but under which category - adventure/political intrigue/horror?

What a sad sad day for the de Guzman family and all connected with bre-x.

bigdude; I lack your high level of paranoia, however something was done wrong. People who never/rarely fly in helicopters strap themselves in like swaddled kids. When you get used to them you get neglectful. It could have been a careless moment, with the door open for ventilation, leaning out for some kind of look about, who knows. I am unaware of any reason for suicide. He was one of the men that BREX made rich. There is no reason to kill/push him out etc. The Indo govt doesnt care if you caught them with their hands in the cooky jar. They do and act as they see fit. There is a chance that a cushioned fall to bog/bamboo etc may allow survival, and so we expectantly wait for some possible good news.

I have flown in helicopters over jungles. In many instances, the door is kept open or opened because it is hot or people like the view of the jungle better. Helicopters I was in had sliding doors. A possibility is that he got out of his seat to look more closely at the jungle below, the helicopter lurched, he lost his hand hold.... I don't know. But I would not say it is impossible that it was simply a very unfortunate accident. Hopefully more complete information will be forthcoming..

Flames for bigdude post #7370

I find the comments in your post to be highly offensive. I feel like I have just lost a member of my (extended) family, and you're speculating that he MAY have been murdered or committed suicide? Please, do us all a favor and SHUT THE HELL UP!

I would have conveyed this message to you privately, but I see that you give no E-mail address.

I believe that this is only an accident. I have been a surveyor using helicopter as a means of transportation. I also experiance a rapid take off from a hill top before I have my seat belt on. The door is still open. I have one hand holding on the seat belt and grap my instrument with another. The door of the copter in many case may still be open while flying in a country as hot as Indonesai.
Bad day for Bre-X mineral.
