An article from broadband week june 21 states Worldgate and other set top providers need to come up with their own electronic guide to supplant TV Guide Channel. This is because Worldgate and other Webtop providers require a small amount of central processing unit power at the set top to operate, thus encroaching on cpu power that has been committted under contract to tV guide.
So far TVguide has not been willing to negotiate agreements that would lessen mso's cpu commmittment by the slightest amount to accommodate webtop vendors,
My guess is ACTV is the exception and We have been accommodated. This was a strategic move that was well thought out and executed over a year ago.AS we know, we are in the cable boxes of three manufactures
with TvGuide for digital. The key is in the deployment of boxes. The big question is how many boxes have been deployed and how many must there be in place for us to commence Actv's rollout and commercialization of various products. We have all experienced delay after delay resulting in frustration. Continued delay will more than likely happen and the stock price will remain the same or trend down lower.
until the actuall rollout
