Just take a look at the rise in CMGI over the past six months and you will see that 15% of market value varied quite alot (just check out the volatility during the past two weeks!!!!) Selling Altavista for stock instead of cash is pretty damn risky, especially for a company without a CEO to hold accountable. As far as I am concern, I do not like it at all. Although, I agree that the folks at CMGI probably know a hell of alot more about handling an internet concern like Altavista than Compaq. I just hope to hell they remember us shareholders and give us a piece of the action to divest or hold!
