Gerald, this thread best left till after the market closes but if I were you I would not be so sure that Ms. Rand would think highly of our high tech economy. It wouldn't fit with her image of the tall, lean, angular man of action, acting alone. Likely, the teams of engineers collaborating in cubicles as far as the eye can see would leave her cold - yet its collaboration far more than individualism that is creating the day to day advances. Second, she would most likely despise the rise of the investor and trader. She didn't treat investors, living off the intellectual capital of others, kindly. Lastly, the fact that top management, often moves from industry to industry, and for the most part lacking in hands on experience in their industry would probably not impress her.

I'm glad you've been to Phoenix. But my point was and now confirmed that you've never seen the rest of the world. I know it's hard to believe but you represent a vanishingly small proportion of the world's population - the well off American. If you ever work in most of the world I think you might find that her rejection of altruism is probably not a good policy. Further, you might want to review some of the game theory papers that indicate altruism as a strategy can often result in the most profitable return, so on a rational basis it appears her Objectivism is flawed at its heart.
