KEEP TALKING....AOL'S Andreessen Sees
Internet Boom

NEW YORK (Reuters) - America Online Inc.'s chief technologist
Tuesday called the Internet an unstoppable force that will sweep
through America and the rest of the world, boosted by such
popular features as electronic mail.

''The more people that are online, the more valuable the Internet
becomes, and the more people will be drawn to it,'' Chief
Technology Officer Marc Andreessen said. ''You really can't stop
it.''

He said easy-to-use features such as e-mail and instant messaging were the ''tornado
applications'' that would power growth of the Internet, much as certain useful software programs
brought the boom of the personal computer.

His comments came a day after AOL said it would offer high-speed Internet access via satellite to
far-flung rural areas not currently wired for fast connections.

The company announced Tuesday it would offer AOL e-mail over 3Com's handheld devices.

Andreessen spoke at PC Expo, a vast computer convention being held here this week.
